For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2016 Posts: 255 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2016 Posts: 255 | Ok so what is the differance between 1st,2nd, and 3rd gear bushings for a 1972 year and old years transmission? Ppl I ordered my bushings from said the 1st and 2nd gears bushings are the same, but the 3rd gear bushing isnt and apparently the 3rd gear bushing on the later years model trans is different then the early model. Can someone enlighten me on what the differance is. Cuz I apparently got the wrong 3rd gear bushing if this is true because all my bushings seem to be the exact same size.
Thanks, Mike | | | | | Joined: May 2016 Posts: 255 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2016 Posts: 255 | I just measured my bushing on the shaft and 1st and 2nd are both 2 9/16" OD and 3rd is 2 5/16" OD. So the place I ordered my 3rd gear bushing from either has the wrong size bushing or they sent me wrong one. Either way I'm dealing with some b.s. on this issue cuz the other site I got the rebuild kit from and the 1st and 2nd gear bushings, they said the 3rd gear bushing is different on the later vs earlier models transmissions. And me being the lucky guy I am, the 3rd gear bushing for my older model is on back order..... | | |
