Hello everyone,
So I got the carburetor rebuilt only to find out that the fuel pump had quit.
I’ve got it off and cleaned up waiting for the rebuild kit to arrive.
The question now is should I paint the pump and and if so what is the historically correct color for use on a 1940 truck?

Fuel pumps are usually left the color of the casting which will not rust.

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

Agree, no paint, just bare metal...any steel items like the bale for the sediment bowl and screws would have been tin or zinc plated.

It’s back together and back on the engine.
She started up and ran well so that’s a victory!
