Thought 1951 3100 had straight axle thus no control arms. What front end are you working on?

A lower control arm? Do you have a Camaro/Nova sub or clip for a front suspension?

I think that there is a problem with the title of this thread. I think "ang II" is supposed to be "Mustang II". Shade Tree: please confirm.

There are people here who have installed the Mustang II front suspension. I'm sure they can help. In the meantime, don't cut (destroy) any bushings.

Is this a kit?

You probably need to identify the kit you have. Do you have any instruction sheets that came with the kit?
The reason I ask is to understand where and what part on the installation you are having trouble with.
For example, I believe (I really don't know) the spring needs to be compressed before the arm can be installed.

If it is a CPP kit, they have their own support forum: https://www.classicshoptalk.com/forum.php

(If no one here can help you)

I had the same issue with miy CPP crossmember and non-domestic control arms. I left out one of the washers that goes between the control arm and crossmember. I've seen where others have used a ratchet strap to spread the control arm to get it on, personally I'd be aftaid of bendind it or damaging it, but it's your choice.

What could possibly go wrong with a kit built by a 12 year old slave laborer in some 3rd. world sweatshop? An angle grinder is your best friend when trying to assemble some of these low bid modification projects. Once it's cobbled together, good luck getting the wheel alignment done right!

We have done many MII ifs units into AD trucks and learned quickly that there is a huge difference between engineered ones and ones built just to sell. Never use the lower control arm type anymore but use the lower A-frame type. If you have a Port-0-Power get a "duckbill" attachment and spread the channel a bit. When you put the large bolt back in that the control arm pivots on it will draw the channel tight against the bushing.

A shade tree method for those who don't have a Porto-Power is a piece of all-thread rod and a couple of nuts. Push the flanges apart far enough to get the bushing to fit, and then tighten things down.

Jerry, Doc - that's why I bought my MII IFS Kit from Fatman Fabrications right here in North Carolina, built by Americans! Had no problems at all with the kit. And if I did, their technicians are only a phone call away.

Punctuation is very important in written or typed communication.
