Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2017 Posts: 22 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2017 Posts: 22 | I'm sure someone out there has put a Gen3 six (194, 230, 250, 292) in a 41 to 46 half ton. So how did you do it? Did you use an off the shelf kit, or did you have to fabricate all the mounts? I have my 250 sitting in the engine bay on stands, so I know it will clear if I use an electric pusher fan out front, but I'm not sure how to mount it. I've found kits for 42-46 Chevy cars, and kits for 47-54 trucks, but not 41-46 trucks. "Universal" kits usually mean they don't fit anything. Pictures would be greatly appreciated! | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,868 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,868 | I assume you're aware that more is involved than just an engine swap. You'll basically be transplanting an entire drivetrain- - - -engine, transmission, and rear axle, plus different clutch and brake pedals and all the associated linkage. That's why most "upgrades" involve swapping to a 54-62 235 or 261 engine. Those are close to a bolt-in swap, and will be able to mate up to the existing drivetrain a lot more easily. Jerry

I am using a T5 trans and an S10 4x4 Blazer rear axle. The T5 is already adapted to the engine. Of course it will have an open driveshaft. I have the rear crossmember and trans mount figured out. The gen3 six uses side engine mounts instead of front mounts like a 216, 235, 261 etc. What I am interested in is what kind of side mounts have others used in their trucks with this engine. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,868 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,868 | Several vendors make adjustable tubular crossmembers with side mounts that can either weld or bolt in and mate up to the side mounts on the late model six. 194, 230, and 250 mounts are identical to small block V8's. The 292 has offset mounts, and require a different side mount setup. Jerry
