Looking for recommendations for a Tonneau cover for my 49 GMC FC100. What have you used and how did it work out? I don't mind driving my truck in the rain but would like to protect the wood bed.

Thanks Phak1 , wood work is not my normal skill set , so I was very happy with the final finish . I made it over 20 yrs ago .
Usual cover for the deck is the canvas canopy . It is more user friendly than the tonneau cover . Tho it certainly has more wind resistance

Hello, Here's a couple pics of the tonneau cover I had made for my '49. The tonneau cover was about 18 years old in these pictures! The only repair were new pieces sewn over the rear corners and several snap replacements, it got lots of use.I don't remember the exact material, but it was very water repellent, I think a marine material, and it had a light canvas like backing. We pulled a vintage camp trailer, and the weather-gods don't always smile when you camp, so it saw plenty of rain and even some snow, no leaks. A couple of tips; #1 is from my upholsterer, no seams except at the edges, water will seep through seams- if you want it water-tight don't have designs etc sewn in.
The cover lets you hide the items carried in the bed, a tonneau is not thief proof of course, but I never had anyone bother mine- use caution
regarding what you leave under there and where you leave the truck.
I trimmed card board boxes of various sizes to fit under the tarp, keeps things from sliding around etc. (also keeps the tonneau from turning into a
pond in a heavy rain!)
