Anyone know where and also the part number for the spring that goes on the window regulator on a 1950 ? Everywhere I look it either cuts off at 1947 or it just doesn’t look like the spring on on my truck. Picture attached below.

47-50 window regulators should be the same. They changed in '51 with the addition of vent windows.

The spring I need wraps around the window crank on the regulator but the places I’ve looked show this spring for a 1950. My dad did change the passenger side door off a wrecked truck and it was a five window cab but the doors are exactly the same.when I looked up the regulator for a 50 it has the spring on it just like the picture I posted in my original post.

Here's the two regulators. First pic is for a 47-50, and the second is for 51-55 trucks.

Both use a similar flat stock spring, but it appears they're a bit different.

The vendors sell the stem and pinion gear with housing for the 47-50 style as a repair, but I don't see a spring that goes in there (the round stock one in your second picture?) or one like that for either style regulator. I've never seen the flat stock spring available. Maybe a member here has an old regulator with a good spring that could fix yours. Post in the swap meet forum your need.

I want to make this same repair to my 1950 GMC. My search of vendors finds the same as Mr. Alan found. The website for classicparts.com describes the spring shown in Mr. Alan's second post as fitting inside the housing that contains the shaft for the interior window crank, accessible by grinding off the rivets that hold that cover in place. Like Mr. Alan, I do not want to change that spring; I want the spring that is shown in the photo of a regulator posted by Mr. klhansen. My regulator is good; it just does not have that spring.

I made this same repair to an off topic truck earlier in 2021 for which that spring is also not available. For that case I had the broken spring, so I was able to measure it. For that case an aftermarket spring for the regulator on a 1930's Ford fit and works. For my GMC there is no spring for me to measure.

I feel certain that someone has found a spring for some application that will fit the 1947 to 1950 GM trucks. Has anyone found a substitute? Does anyone have a regulator that has that spring in place and can give us the measurements and a photo of it?
