Hello, all you AD gurus...
I am having a time getting the oil filter out of the canister.
It slides up until the inner lid is about 3/8" shy of the end if the rod, then stops, like it is hitting a detent.
Thoughts? Am I missing something?
Thanks,
Mike

If it’s the AC filter housing, it should just slide out. I would try twisting and pulling and then prying, even if I had to poke a hole in the canister to get a leverage point.

My next avenue of pursuit
I tried both twisting and pulling, then prying (gently) on the sheet metal retainer flange, but it stated to flex.
Stopped that action quickly.
I'll gently caveman it out by molesting the filter itself.
I'll post the findings.
Thanks.

It's out, and I was sold the wrong filter.
No shock here.

The filter in your picture doesn't even remotely resemble the right one. Were you having problems on the initial installation, or was that one forced into place and run for a while? There's supposed to be a couple of rubber grommets that grip the center post, and there should be more clearance around the edge than that one has.
