The passenger side window in my '48 Chevy truck has suddenly become stubborn. It can be raised up only about 1/3 of the way, and then lowered. It feels that it is getting bound up somewhere at this 1/3 up point. Prior to this time, it freely was able to be fully run up and down. Any thoughts on a diagnosis of the problem, and the remedy to get it back in working condition? Thanks. LUKE

Have you removed the door's interior panel to see if you can see what is binding up and where?

I have removed the interior panel and looked with both eyes. I do not notice anything causing the bind.

It could be as simple as a fastener or roller that worked its way loose. Post a picture for us to look at.

Have you replaced any screws or added arm rests?

Mission accomplished...a fairly quick and easy repair. I removed the lower inspection panel on the door. Using an inspection mirror and light, I found that window jumped out from the front side U-shaped channel guide (proper name?). I was able to get the window back in place as normal, and the window works just as well as it did prior to this mishap. I will have to carefully watch it to see if this repeats itself. I recently served as chauffeur for my wife on some errands; I recall her slamming the door with some vigor. I suspect that is when the problem surfaced. I am thankful to not have to get involved with a regulator repair. The picture supplied in this thread was a nice help. Thanks to all for your guidance and support.

If you do need to fix it, vendors have replacement rollers and rivets that go into the window track. The rollers get worn and can slip out if someone like your wife gets too aggressive with closing the door.
The fix isn't that hard once you get the regulator out of the door.

I would rehab this regulator if need be. What is the sentiment on the new repop regulators available today? Are there still good, usable/reliable OEM regulators out there, ready to be pressed back into service w/o restoration?

I have the later style window regulator, but have found that other than the roller that goes in the window channel on the bottom of the glass, they were in good shape. The scissor style that the 47-50 trucks use have a few more wear points, but you may find that your originals are good to use other than the rollers.
I don't have any experience with the repop regulators, but if yours is serviceable with out much work, I'd stay with the originals.
