Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 5 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2021 Posts: 5 | I have a question about brake shoe size for my 56' 3100 Chevy. Factory spec. for the front shoes is 11" x 2" and 11" x 1-3/4" for the rears. Could there be issues using the larger 11" x 2" shoes on the rear? Half of The feed back I've got from other truck owners and the vendors is mixed. Napa sent me 11x2 shoes for both ends. Should I keep them or get the 11 x 1-3/4 for the rears? Thanks for the advice. Second, making the rear brakes more powerful is dangerous. If they are, they are likely to lock up on a hard braking situation and send you into a tail spin.

The backing plates were changed in 58 to use the 2" shoes which carried through the 60's. I would stay with the correct shoes for your year. Fred

NAPA should not have sent you the 2" under any circumstance. If you have a local store, they should have a source to get you shoes relined.
