I'm sure that's not ideal... But how bad is that really?
It's flush with the valve stem -- meaning the entire valve stem is touching the edge of the rocker. Just not centered on the rocker.

| | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,755 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,755 | It's a lot more likely that during a valve guide replacement some time in the past that the guide was installed a little bit crooked, or maybe the guide is badly worn. What's the compression on that cylinder compared to the rest? Which valve is it, intake or exhaust? You can check for a worn guide by packing the cylinder full of small-diameter rope to prevent the valve from falling in, turn the piston up tight against the fill rope, remove the valve spring, and check the guide for wobble by shaking the stem from side to side.

However, I'm certain it's the rocker. If I swap it with its siblings, the problem follows the rocker, and the sibling lines up fine with the valve stem.
It's LH Intake.

I'd recommend trying to replace the one that's not aligned, since the oddball geometry will eventually cause some uneven wear. I see single rocker arms on Ebay occasionally, or you might want to make a post in the "parts wanted" forum here.
