Trying to remove the grille on my 46 1 1/2 ton but I have encountered a funny lookin screw looks like a bowtie insert. I got lucky and removed 1 with a flat blade. Is there a special tool and where can I get it. Checked local parts store with no luck.

Sounds like you are looking at a "clutch head" screw. Don't know if I have the name correct but that is what I have always known them as. You can get screw driver or insert bit at most automotive stores such as Napa. These screw heads were quite common on earlier Chevrolets. Lots of them on my 1937 1 1/2 truck.

They are "clutch head" screws. You can buy a full set of screw drivers for these through any of the old chevy parts places for around $16.00, i.e. Chevy Duty, Jim Carter's, Chev's of the 40's. Or I bought a cheap set of tools at Checkers around $19.99 that had three different sizes of these included in with the bit-driver selection. Lastly, if none of those suit your desires, check your local RV store. They are still using these types of fasteners on alot of the newer RV's being made today.
