Tried to call for restore package on my 49 chev 6400, 2 ton. Was told that they do not have them for the bigger trucks. Trying to reseach this model, where is the best place to start? I have found out about the vin. numbers, and engine casting number so far. Trying to learn more about this truck. Can anyone steer me to some other info?

Thanks for the help.

Just got off the phone with GM, they are sending a package for a 49 Truck, again they said info on larger trucks was not available. I assume that alot of the info should be the same. If there are differance's Pass them on.

Have been told that things are the same other than larger front finders and hood. please confirm this.

i got a package for my '59 2-ton not long ago. it contained info for anything from half-ton, all the way up thru the various big cab/chassis options for busses, tandem axle stuff, etc. hope yours is as complete. let us know!

as for common, most of the cabs and everything in them in common on my '59, as well as alot of the drivetrain. frames, suspension, brakes, front end sheet metal, that's another story.

Thanks again for all the info, the phone number I called is the same as posted. I'll be waiting for the freeze up so the dog team can bring me my mail.
