The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline '54 Master Cylinder upgrade

Hi all,

I'm preparing to order what I need for my '54 to upgrade to a dual master. I have no experience with auto brake master cylinders... plenty with motorcycles, so I understand all the concepts involved, mostly just double-checking physical compatibility. I'd like to do the Wilwood remote master and put the reservoirs on the firewall where I can get to them, unlike doing a corvette master under the floor. Application is stock drums with all new cylinders/shoes on a '54 3600 dually at stock ride height.

Just asking more knowledgeable people if they see any compatability issues with the following parts:

Classic Parts M/C Bracket

Wilwood Remote M/C - same 1 1/8" piston as stock M/C

Wilwood Residual Pressure valves (10lb) x 2 - do I need these on a stock ride-height truck? My understanding is they're only required if the truck is lowered and the M/C is below the W/C. They're cheap enough, though, I wouldn't mind installing them anyway just to ensure no issues with the seals at the W/C.

Biggest question is: Will the Wilwood M/C bolt holes line up with the Classic Parts bracket and will the rods work?

The Wilwood will bolt up to the bracket. That is a universal dimension for the mount holes.

Do you need residuals currently? If so, add them. If not, don't.
