I looked at the Rochester carb that was on my 235 today. It was very clean inside and all I need are a few gaskets and accelerator pump. How do I identify the carb? It looks like the other post that buoymaker posted a picture of.
Is it the 7003536 -C-14 number that is on the bottom of the bowl? When looking at carb kits they are not very accurate in the pictures of the parts. The accelerator pump on my carb has a round shaft not flat like they sometimes show in the pictures. It has a automatic choke that was not complete, the bimetal spring was missing. The exhaust manifold has a shield that would of had a heat tube originally. But that is not there. It has a manual choke now. This engine is a 59 truck 235 by serial number.

The carbs originally came with a tag attached to one of the screws that fasten the top cover on. Many of these tags were lost during a rebuild. On some (not all) of the carbs, they stamped the last 4 or 5 digit number on the base where it attaches to the manifold. Add 700 to the beginning of a 4 digit number or 70 for a five digit number. In my case it would be 7005921. Hope this helps!

That number is the bowl casting number - pretty well useless.

Carb # should be something like 7013029 or 7013953.

Ok, the cast base does have some numbers stamped on it. Looks to be 12127.

Thanks, I tried finding carb kits for a one barrel and got a varied search result. So a Rochester BC with standard trans. My engine serial is a truck engine and I was told the carb with a automatic choke was for a car not a truck,Thanks much.

Yes, it's listed here as a carb for a car. The number is the important thing just so you get the correct kit.

The "2639" in the post above is the number of the rebuilding kit.
