Here's a dumb question. The oil lines going to the filter, is the output from the block in the front or back position?

Here is a little information on oil filters.

The "plumbing" : lines/hoses and routing and block-port-locations depends on the filters and the block/year.

Here is a picture of my setup. The supply is on the backside of the filter, about two thirds of the way up.

Thanks for the info guys. Am I correct that the supply is on the rear of the block? I like the idea of having a oil pressure gauge on the block.

Yes, just to the rear of the exhaust pipe. And
I liked the idea of the pressure gauge too!

Chevies till Id One of Mine has a spin-on filter mounted on a piece of heavy angle iron hanging conveniently below. It is plumbed up with steel brake line,no mess fill it screw it on you got it. Fill crankcase head downtown !! Make you one of those !!!

I've looked at the conversion kits and decided against it. I like the look of the canister filter, it has considerably more filter area and why fix what isn't broken.

Chevies till Id Well your right,but it's kind of a mess,and I am a little gunny of those filter lines,plus stuff in the way.
