For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | on another topic i noticed the reference of casting #'s so i thought i would ask this question.
to the untrained eye manifolds all look a like but when i studied the one that is on the engine(which is cracked with a part of the tab missing on the bottom side)with the one i picked up it looks the same.
the existing casting # is 2190407P. the one i picked up at a salvadge yard is unreadable. i know its for a gmc because it is stamped gmc. without measuring everything it appears that it would bolt up.
the intake on the truck casting # is 2194002 which the first three #'s 219 have some sort of meaning.
the intake that came with the manifold from the yard the casting # is 2364698. physically is slightly different. my mechanic say it would work but i looked at it more closely after he left and im not so sure. for one the carb mounting studs are different on one they front to back with the truck and on the other one they are left to right. which then none of the linkages would could be hooked up.
i am hoping that i can use the existing intake and use the exhaust that i got from the salvdge yard.
your thoughts and suggestions are welcomed. i really wish i could fine the right one and be done with it. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | i removed the cracked exhaust manifold, split the intake and matched up the manifold i got from the salvage yard to the motor. all looked good.
i then matched up the good exhaust to the intake and i found the exhaust ports 3/32" longer than the intakes.
other than finding the right manifold what can be done with the longer one? i was thinking on the lines of having it milled down so that they are the same.
any suggestions. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 1,144 | Since your not getting a lot of response here have you tried posting in the engine and driveline section | | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 1,107 | | | |
