As shown in the pic, this door was trashed before I even got it. frown

Is there a vid/thread I can use to fix this door?

Found this, but this work may be beyond my skills:

If you can weld or have someone weld, the rest is easy with proper technique. The video is a good general procedure but there are a few improvements that can be made easily.
The VERY fortunate part is that the piece is a separate piece that can be removed and fixed or replaced. This job is VERY doable, medium welding skill needed.

There may be an easier fix but not sure. I would have to better pics, close ups of inside of pocket, better lighting and a pic of the outside where hinge bar goes thru. Also, how was the hinge attached to the door by previous owner?

Sadly, this door was off of the truck when I got it. I have a feeling that the oem door of the truck was good or useable, and the seller took that door, and I got the gimp.

I noticed quite a few parts removed from this truck that were harder-to-get items, so, I think the poor thing was scavenged to death. frown

I also have intro to intermediate welding skills, but am out of practice by about 10 years, so I would have to dive back into it. Obviously, if I went with the part that you located (thank you very much, by the way), at least I would not have to worry about blowing through the welds on the oem piece (like the guy was concerned about in the vid).

Maybe I'll give it a go, since that part is relatively cheap.

1. You have to remove the old piece anyway, so why not repair it?
2. The welding skill needed is plug welds, not too hard to do after practice a little.
3. I mentioned a few improvements on the video, but you don't care?
4. What did the guy mean by "blowing thru the welds"? I had the sound off and fast forwarded a lot.

I will be glad to hear your improvement suggestions!

The blowing through the welds was said bc he was trying to save the original part and did not want to punch holes in it.

And now my best part of the update: I got the part out today! Took me about 3 hours, but here it is:

Good job, glad you decided to tackle it. Too late for the "improvements"/suggestions.

The new part arrived today. If the weather decides to cooperate tomorrow, I'm hoping to install it. The funny part is, I think at least 3 welds missed the original part that was in the door! Guess it doesn't matter, since it held together longer than I've been alive smile

Well the welds may not be gorgeous, but the part is properly aligned and well-secured! If all goes well, I might even get to hang the door tomorrow, as the latch came today as well!

It's also a good thing I ordered extra door hinge bolts, as it seems they are all supposed to have fine threading! That's at least what was on the new hinge pocket.

Driver door is on the truck for the first time since I've owned it! May require adjustment and bodywork, but it works!!
