I found this one painted over, but it appears to just be the VIN.

There was no "trim tag" on 1953 Chevrolet trucks.

There was an Engine Serial Number and a Vehicle Serial Number - 1953 serial numbers would be the same locations.

Here is information about 1953 car/truck serial numbers.

You'll need to find a spot with original paint and use the tech tips to match it up with one of the optional factory paint colors. Underneath the outside mirror arm is usually pretty close to original.
This can be helpful also.
