I wired in the signal stat 900 that came with the truck, all the wiring is correct and everything is functioning very well, except I keep blowing bulbs... I just can’t quite figure out why. Any thoughts?

It’s also 15amp fused

I even ran a dedicated ground wire from the switch to rule that out.

1. You don't blow bulbs because of a bad ground.
2. We don't know what truck this is.
3. You can't say "wiring is all good" if you are blowing bulbs. Something is NOT "functioning well".
4. We don't know what bulbs are blowing and if they all are on a 15 amp fuse.
5. We don't know if they are dual filament bulbs and just one filament is burning out.
6. You haven't told us anything that could possible allow us to help, except to fire off a dozen causes.
7. You sure need to explain that ground wire from "the switch" you added. as in: from what/to what?
8. Assuming "the switch" means the sigstat 900. There is NO ground wire associated with this switch.
9. "It's 15 amp fused"...what is IT? What part of "IT" is fused?

So give us some info per above. Be specific on each point. No. 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 & 9. Repeat: be specific.
These questions are to save us firing off two dozen causes.

Burning out the bulbs is normally due to the voltage being too high or vibration or maybe the wrong bulb. With the engine running at a high idle and no lights or accessories turned on check the voltage across the battery terminals.

That was a long winded response, that could have simply been stated as you need more information to answer the question I asked lol. The effort is appreciated.

It’s a 1953 GMC LB. It is functioning well btw, minus the blown bulbs.

the power wire to the flasher is were the fuse would be, so power to 15amp fuse to flasher.

I do realize it doesn’t come with a ground wire. It’s suppose to ground to the steering column, but I added a ground from the mounting screw to a chassis ground.

The bulbs are single filament bulbs, the repop taillights to be specific, also the bulb in the “switch” which is all the signal stat really is, also single filament.

Now something that I should have definitely stated, is the truck has a 12v conversion with a 1 wire alternator.

I will check all voltage and try to step up to 14v bulbs, thx buckshot

You would normally want no higher than 14.2 vdc at the battery when it' running 'steady state', A battery at rest with nothing attached should read 12.6 vdc or a little above, if it's below 12.6 it's considered discharged.

Comediann When you find those 14 v bulbs let us know. Unless your voltage is hi,there is really know where else to run to ! We too all have foreign bulb trouble,just not as good. I have been going to the same go get what you need junk yard for 50 yrs. Used to collect bulbs there,headlight 6014,s were 1$ each still using them. Fun place!!!

bartamos I think the 900 has to have the switch grounded to get the pilot on the lever to work.
