Work is moving forward on the 55 chevy 2 ton. I am in the process of tidying up wiring and re-routing it so my engine bay is a bit tidier. Cleaning up under the dash as well along with a bunch of fixes and ...... .... #**$
Installed the sbc a couple years ago. It has about an hour of run time on it so far
Pulled the gauge cluster and found the speedo cable end broken off at the cluster.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for a replacement speedo cable for my 55 2 ton ?
I had actually pulled the cluster to verify I had no vacuum leaks at the ratio adapter and to check the operation, but i got drawn into the wiring job and forgot. i will have a look at that tomorrow and let you know what I find.
I have to rebuild our two speed adapter also. I was thinking of using a choke pull-off/vacuum brake to replace the unit. I can't imagine being able to find a replacement.

Mike B On the 2-speed ratio adapter ,can you make a diaphragm out of bat wing for those ?? I can't recall where I got bat-wing but will think of it ssoon. Our local Marathon refinery may have it,in their instrument repair shop.

I don't know what "bat wing" is and I've never tried to make a diaphragm for the adaptor. If you figure out how to repair/replace it please share with us!

X2 I've got a 59 cluster with leaking diaphragm.

Mike B Bat wing is like a soft pliable gas regulator diaphragm material,I learned how to harvest it out of gas regulators. Trouble is it always has a hole in the center. Once had a governored propane 2 barrel that needed a diaphragm every 3 or 4 years.
BC59 From the picture I saw It was not a very big diaphragm So would take a light material,have seen it in big boiler draft gauges and it does remind you of a bats wing !
My 55 chevy first 6400 uses a mechanical speedometer ratio adapter that is operated off the axle shift control shaft under the dash and I have a extra. It would be easy to fabricate a rod with a knob to operate it.
