Hello, I have begun putting my 1950 1 1/2 ton back together after being sidelined by heart surgery. I need to know what is missing on the firewall where the steering shaft goes through? Pictures below from inside and outside. The cab is not lined up I guess because it’s rubbing the firewall.

Is this the original cab for your truck, or a donor?

There is a thick rubber/plastic on ‘55+ that might be configured to work.

The stock steering column cover is a metal/rubber affair that will cover the hole both at the toeboard and vertical section of the firewall. It looks like your cover is not the correct one.

It does look like your cab has sagged a bit as the pedal openings appear to have rubbed the top of the opening for the pedal.

The 4-speed trucks use a 4-5/16" long oval shaped rubber grommet that has the 36* bend and it covers the top half of the hole opening. It won't have the column shifter rod hole.

EDIT, the grommet is ROUND, not oval

I have looked at several vendors sites and they all look round to me. I found some pictures online of original trucks and they look like they have a round metal cover with a round rubber seal ( which is missing from mine) and some kind of sponge rubber that fills in the rest of the oval hole.
I think I will order the round seal that goes under the metal cover and try to make something to fill in the rest of the oval hole

I think you're right, I assumed it was oval, my bad, but now after looking in the parts book again it is round.

Sorry for the confusion,

The Toe Pan Seal is p/n 3687204. The Rubber Grommet in p/n 3685928 (36* bend - 1-11/16" ID x 4-5/16" OD).
