I bought this set of horns off a 1948 chevy truck, they were in the compartment under the seat, and restored them. Where are the horns usually mounted from the factory? Firewall or inner fender well seem to be the logical choice but I'd like to keep it correct. A quick tip for restoring aluminum. If you have access to a Media blast cabinet start with #75 crushed glass and finish with #7 glass bead. Take your time and you'll end up with a factory fresh finish.

That's a good Way to mount them but I'm kind of fond of the duel horn mounting bracket that I have. I'm going to tinker around and see if I can mount it out front on the radiator support. Thanks for the info
FYI: the dual "seashell" style horns were a truck option/accessory first offered in 1953 trucks. In that year, the dual horns were mounted with a bracket that attaches to the firewall. The single seashell horn was mounted on the forward part of the manifold assembly.
(photos are from an old post by Mother.Trucker's - check out the whole thread - as usual "thank you MT.)
Also, that style of horn was used Chevrolet cars for a few years - the mounting studs on the car horns were/are in different locations than the studs on the truck horns.
My horns mount on a single bracket. They probably came off a different truck. I'm going to mount them on the firewall in the same location as the picture if they don't interfere with the coolant overflow tank.
