I am looking for a part number for a 1956 1 ton (Single wheel) front shocks.

The part number on Rock Auto (for a 3800) does not fit my truck. I understand something could have been changed over the last 60 some years but don't think so. The sleeve/collar measure 3/4".

Paul,

Might have to go by dimension, I see you have your calipers out, just need to take compressed, unloaded dimensions with you and look in shock books.

It looks like you may have part of the old shock still on the stud. Sometimes the rubber comes apart when the old sleeve freezes to the stud. A torch is the easiest way to get it off but you probably can do it with a hammer & chisel.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

This might narrow down your search a bit. Your parts store might be able to cross over the original GM PN's to find one that fits.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.
