For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2011 Posts: 1,363 | Old trucks and speed. I remember as a teen when the speed limit was 75 hmmm think it was that. Any how the old 57 chev 3100 with 3.9 gears would scoot along at 70 plus no problemo, and the whole everything cept the engine was stock. Oh and it got about 24 mpg on the freeway.
Kicking self for selling off my Taskforce trucks. Still looking for an LCF or conventional big bolt in decent shape.

And not too many years ago some class 8 trucks didn't even come with front brakes. They would also scoot pretty quick back then. The only up grade an old truck needs is to make sure the existing parts are in good shape and not worn.

The original brakes when adjusted properly will stop fine.
