Hello guys, While I was away touring in my 41 half ton I met a guy who is restoring a 52 big bolt. It has dual rear wheels. He has little info on it. It is an Australian truck and might therefore have Canadian connections. He has been told that it is an 1142 model, DG series.

I think the chassis number is 37607 HA. It looks about a two tonner. He was also wondering if the bonnet emblem on these bigger trucks is the same as the half ton AD trucks. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Bob

I am in the same boat, is there an easy way to identify the aussie trucks?

Ok folks with the number 37607 HA. I was wondering if any of the Canadian members knew if Chev had an assembly plant in Halifax. just guessing that that may explain the HA.

Thanks

Hi Guys!

Here's a Canadian view.

From my decipher page it goes like this for the older models.

e.g. Vin #6954300440---The 6 is for 1946--95 indicates GMC 2 ton--43 means cab and chassis--00440 indicates vehicle number.

I don't recall that GM had a Halifax plant although there was one in Regina along with the main plant in Oshawa. Although VIN's are different nowadays I think in /52 they were still as I described.

It's possible that vehicles built for export were given different style ID's so you could write to GM Canada Vintage Vehicle dept.--1908 Colonel Sam Drive, Oshawa, Ontario L1H 8P7.

Good luck with the search.
