For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 15 Member | | Member Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 15 | I am purchasing a 1942 Truck that was used as a grain hauler. I already posted in the VCCA chat with some interesting issues. According to this VB code that means the truck is a 1939. However, this truck is a 1942 according to the Title and Registration papers. The truck is a 1.5 Ton. So far it looks like the block is a 235 and not a 216. Any help is appreciated. Thr truck is in rough shape also. Lots of rust with a froze engine. Any ideas on the value? VIN# VB 56S130852 Block# 839931 Mill Pad# BM732344 Chassis# 8M543 Here is a picture from your archives which looks just like it. Although I believe this is a 2 Ton truck. If it doesn't have a bowtie it's just an imitation.

It has never been wrecked either. It is a 133" wheelbase dual tire rear. It's a rice hauler from my cousin's farm. Title and registration says 1942 while the VIN code is 1939. I'm at a lost with it.

Go to "The engine and Driveline Shop" and read about Tony's (Truckedup) work on freeing up a stuck engine.
Drivin' down a 2 lane country road in a stovebolt.....cowboy, it don't get no better than this!

But thats definitly 41 thru early 47 styleing. With my 1938 1 1/2 ton they replaced the engine in 42 and retitled it as a 42. If the truck was used much there is a good possibility the engines not original. My grandfather had a small fleet about 10 trucks mostly stovebolts and it was common to have several engines in the crate around so they could be swapped quickly and the truck back making money if he did it that way it was proably common practice. Good luck with your project. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 252 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2003 Posts: 252 | You may want to check this site also.... www.haist-usa.com/artdecotrucks/ Lots of good spec, model number, and ID number info there. If memory serves me correctly, all trucks built from 1942 thru 1945 were numbered as 1942 models, which skewed the month/date sequences. Kind of like a 36+ month year numbering system. HTH | | |
