The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline 1955 water pump question

I have a '57 3200 body with a '55 engine - 235. The water pump started leaking, and I'm looking to replace it.

The existing pump had a second port for the heater, which is no longer in the truck and I don't intend to replace it. The previous owner had taken the heater line and made a straight shot from the thermostat housing to the pump, basically as a bypass.

My plan was to go with a new pump, one port, and a new thermostat housing with no second port - and be finished.

What is odd to me is, when I look at replacement pumps from online stores - they don't look like what I've pulled off the truck.

Can someone help clarify what's going on here? Assuming the bell air pump does match up, any reason I wouldn't want to go with that as a replacement? Thanks in advance.

2nd pic is a small block V8 pump.
bottom pump should work, have to plug unused port.

Terrance That bottom picture should work for you,if you have belt alignment trouble you can remove the back of the pump and press on the SHAFT and move the fan hub. However minor alignment should be able to shim with washers.
