While I search for my new shift knob, my next issue is putting my hydraulic PTO pump on. Does anyone know what kind of gear I need for a sm 420? I was hoping to get lucky and the one would work off the truck I got my picker from, but it was a newer ford so I couldn't be so lucky, I have the helical cut gear on my countershaft if that helps

No winching for me, mines to run my picker and air compressor, not ruling out. A winch in the future as I do have a farmer tow truck boom that can be dropped on if I feel like it

There are books that tell which PTO goes with which gearbox, but they are few and far between plus the numbers on them are easily damaged so no info is available. I have two from 420’s, don’t know the numbers, though.

Whenever removing a PTO I always stamp what box it came off.
