1950 3600. Got the truck back from having all new brake lines put on. First time I've been able to drive the truck at any speed and definitely first time in fourth gear. When it got there, the clutch started slipping. Bad. I wasn't going to dog it but I didn't feel any slipping in gears 1-3. Any suggestions. Place to start? Cheers!

Ben

I assume this is a 1950 3600? Do you have any free play in the clutch pedal? You should have 3/4” to 1” free travel before the clutch starts to disengage.

If you do have free play in the clutch pedal, then you need a new clutch, if not, adjust it properly. Clutches always start slipping in higher gears since more torque is required in a higher gear.

Easy to do.

The clutch pedal itself is very mushy. Is that typical?

The clutch pedal in my 3100 is not hard to push but I would not say mushy. You didn’t answer my question. Do you have free play in the pedal? That must be answered before we can go further.

Test for free play with your thumb. Your foot can't detect it very accurately.

My fault. 1950 3600. I’ll have to check for true free play. Truck is at my dads garage. I’ll check tomorrow and report back.
