I have a '81 Camaro rear end under my '50 3100. It's within a half inch + or - on each side of what the original torque tube rear measured. What is the widest wheel that I could conceivably fit inside the fenders without tubbing the box? I realize offset plays a part. What have you other bolters been able to squeeze in?
I'm going to be running 11.5". I have to run under 12" for the class I want to run in. I don't like the tub look so I will be widening my rear fenders 2". It's a relatively easy process. Just from measuring you might be able to fit a 10" but I have never tried it. 53/3100.
I plan on using a 20" wheel. I've installed 3" lowering blocks...hoping they will fit diameter wise. In regards to wheel width, I hope I can at least get 8 inches. I'm not going to purchase any tire/wheel combination until the fenders are mounted.
Gord&Fran...I assume you meant the TIRES touch the box on hard cornering?
Zippi, those shock towers look so much nicer then the bar between the frame rails I have (76 trans am rear). Are they available online? or did you custom fab them? thx

Zippi, are your rear springs moved under the frame rails? I did that on a 56' 210 I had, I was able to run a 12" tire by doing that.

Yes, the tires just touch. That means wheels with less than 4" backspace would be a problem for me. Using Camaro stock drum brakes.
