Hello gentleman,
I'm a newbie and have had my 64' for a couple years and along this topic mine has 3 windows behind the cab for a total of four on each side. She also seems a bit longer than others. I was told by the previous owner she was dubbed a carryall and was a Crummie. I can find no literature about crummies do any of you have any or even some hearsay I could indulge?

It looks like there was one length for all Suburban models.

If you have a panel truck, maybe side windows were added?
Panel Trucks were available in different lengths.

Here is this new member's first post. He has a long wheel-base Panel Truck. It looks like side windows have been installed.

My guess is that these windows were not a GM/Chevrolet factory option (RPO).

That is a cool and unique truck. Probably has quite a history too.

Wheelbase is 133" she's titled as a suburban. It was hear say, however it was mentioned to me that crummies might have been built on ambulance chassis but I hadn't had time yet to try and support or dispute that with facts yet. Honestly I thought someone on here might look at her and say oh ya I know what that is!

I’ll look in the 1964 Chevrolet Truck Silver Book Dealer Special Equipment Album for 1-ton Chevrolet Truck “conversions” (if I can find it).

added later: there are no company listed in the Silver Book for installing non-sliding-glass side windows in 1964 Panel.

However, non-sliding glass could have been easily installed by a dealer or by a vehicle glass company, or by an owner/friend/relatrive.

Dexstar 64 Iwill tell you what I know about Crummie. Had a forestry products catalog from Bailey's in Ca. The main dog there told about how they called the carryall the crew rode to the woods in was called a Crummie. This was because they would eat in the 'Crummie at noon and of course it would get "Crummie from the food ! Bill Bailey I think , good supplier !!

To go along with that story, "Crummie" was a common name for the Caboose on a train. I was told many years ago by a retired Southern Pacific engineer that the title came from the less-than-comfortable living conditions the caboose afforded the conductor and brakemen.

Suburbans only came in half ton with the sliding side windows.
You have a converted C-30 panel truck that should be 133" wheelbase.
You have a good looking panel truck, hope to see more pictures of it.

These windows are factory, or subbed as factory? My designation plate or i.d. says it's a suburban and my factory Chevrolet shop manual has several comments denoting or reference to the c-30 also the p-30. This is a 1964 1ton suburban it's just very very rare and I still cannot verify that it was ordered that way as a crummier or if it was a different option or dealer option like yanko

Where is that plate located?
Can you post a photo of the plate?

What is your wheel-base length?

Code is 4C365 H 128830 located driver's door post, and according to the plate down next to the vent she's 133. I tried to post pics but I keep getting a frowny face
