Has anyone sprayed John Deere Blitz Black with Reducer and hardener? I kinda like the satin black look but am wondering about the durability and hold up of it. Would also be interested if anyone has also used any of the lowwer end paints they were happy with.

I have not used that particular paint, but have used Rustoleum Professional Semi-Gloss Black straight from the can and had good results with it. Got a quart of it from Lowes to use on inner fenders and other parts that needed to be black. I believe it was $10 for the quart can. They also have Flat Black in the same line for $30/gallon down in America.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

Kevin, nice cab fixture in the background. Is that something you built or bought? Just got done replacing cab panels in my 51 and sure wish I had something like that while I was doing repairs.

Believe it or not, I have been using Ace Premium Black Satin paint for several years. It is by far my favorite paint in a spray can. I like it better than Rust-oleum or Krylon spray cans (please note I am only talking about paint in a spray can, not pints or quarts). It already has primer in it, covers in two coats, drys fast and has an elliptical spray pattern just like a spray gun.

I have used it on every part that I have put on my truck excluding the engine. So far parts I sprayed, some well over a year ago look great. I do need to point out that my truck is garaged so it doesn’t see the weather.

I did spray the rims on my four-wheeler over two years ago and they are holding up great. I just took the picture, although a little dirty they are showing no signs of rusting or peeling.

IMHO!

I built that using a couple of $50 engine stands. I just sent the brackets I built to attach to the door hinge and striker locations to another bolter. I plan on using it for my frame when it comes time to paint that.
It sure made patching the floor, cowl, and cab corners a LOT more comfortable. I'm getting to old to lay on my back and weld in patches. wink
