I found a different engine and it is most likely a 216 by looking at it. Can you guys identify the details?

that casting number is consistent with a 216 block for all model years 1948-49 that use that engines size

I'll make a few corrections it you don't mind...

The "B" indicates it's a 3100 truck and that it's the regular 216 engine.

The "A" is the engine plant identifier..."A" = Flint, "M" = Tonawanda.

Also, the unit number on the engine is from the engine plant and each plant started at 1001 regardless of the engine code. So this engine is the 867,672nd engine built at Flint for the 1949 model year, there is only 1 serial number 1001 from each plant.

I did the “research” on a notebook computer that does not make for easy reading of details on multiple pages/screens. I should only use this for reading.
