New fella here, picked up this 48 ex grain truck the other day for the farm and some local driving , having a little trouble tracking down ID tag info for the Maple Leaf Canadian truck info/history, if anyone has some insight would be much appreciated (owned a few 1/2 tons so have some knowledge of the old trucks just not the new design Maple Leaf)

Thanks

Hy Highlander, welcome, your truck is a 1948 Chevrolet 2 1/2 ton Maple Leaf with a 161" wheelbase, powered by a 235 Chevrolet engine, hope that helps.

I can't tell for sure, if your truck has the "Maple leaf' emblems, on the hood or not ? Very nice.

Hy Spanky and guys, by using a magnifying glass I believe his truck does have the Maple Leaf badges on the hood, at least on the left side.

Hy spanky and guys, Three ton was the heaviest, as it was a Chevrolet Maple Leaf. After 1939 when GMC released their full precision bearing inline six cylinder engine that was the engine used in the three ton Chevrolet Maple Leaf (1700 series). My three three ton Maple Leaf's are powered by GMC 248s, the two and a half ton Maple Leaf's were Chevrolet powered. The easiest way to explain a three ton Maple Leaf is two say it is a three ton GMC chassis with Chevrolet identification, front end sheet metal and grill, hope that helps.
