Hey all. I did a search but didn't find any threads that could answer me. I've got an Inline 250 out of a 1971 Chevy Pickup that is in my '64 Nova. The oil pan has tons of hairline cracks. I'm having a devil of a time finding a new oil pan. Does anyone make such a beast? Is there a good replacement pan I should be looking for, or if not, does anyone have a good one they'd sell? I'm putting a SBC350 in my '50 GMC so no worries there, but I'd like to keep the 6 cylinder in the Nova.
Don't limit your search to 250's. The pan from a 194, 230, or 292 should also fit. Finding a new pan probably isn't an option, but there should be plenty of used ones available. Try contacting a rebuilder such as Jasper or one of the other engine rehab businesses to see if they have an extra pan on hand. I can't imagine that there's enough demand for those engines that they would refuse to sell you a pan off one of their "core" engines. Jerry

I have a 250 in the engine scrap pile. I can look tomorrow and see how the pan looks. If it's good it's yours, no charge. If I space it out remind me. I'm a bit flakey. I have the pan off my 292 but I thought it was deeper. Someone can correct me.

James is a great guy. I think he still drives truck sometimes so it might take him a little bit to get back to you. I bought a 4-71 blower kit from him. First rate guy IMHO.
The 292 pan is deeper so if you use it, make sure you use a 292 pick up. Conversely, you can fit a 250 pan on a 292, same deal, you have to use a 250 pickup.
It seems to be in good condition. Maybe a little squished on the bottom, not sure. If you want it let me know and I'll take it off and get a better look.
