the rear end on my 53 1/2 ton 3100 is shot. Does anyone have recommendations on finding a replacement or upgrading to something like a Chevy S 10. Thanks, Scott

"Something like a Chevy S 10" is going to have a 5 lug wheel bolt pattern (unless it's from a 4x4) and require an open driveline which means a different transmission. There should be a lot of the closed drive line rear ends available from guys that made conversions.

What parts are "shot"?

Replacement parts might be available.
You could "upgrade" to a 3.55 Ring & Pinion set (from your 4.11) - check the Tech Tips, if you are interested.

And/or post a want ad in the Swap Meet for needed replacement parts.

I guess I was thinking of later C10's & 1500's, thanks.

My trucks rear end is shot so I would like to do a complete replacement and am thinking of an upgrade. Beyond a Chevy S10 any others?
Thanks, Scott

The Chevy Trail Blazer has a 6 lug bolt pattern (metric) and was available in different gear ratios, 3.42, 3.73 and 4.10 in the SS model. The axel with is 58.5 inches and was standard with rear disc brakes.

Thank you to everyone that have responded. I have found a rear end from a 49 with a gear conversion of 3.55 that I will purchase.

Awesome for you. I put 3.55 gears in the Green Turd and cannot express enough, how much I enjoy those gears. You will enjoy them as well.
