Any one know what gauge wire a 1954 pickup tail lamp uses .I have some new lights I bought years ago that said they are same as original but I noticed they came with 12 volt bulbs and the wiring is 18 gauge .I am guessing it should be 14 gauge for the 6/volt system .
The ‘54 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual shows 16 gauge for the tail & stop light.

I never noticed that before. I got this off a wire supply site and it very well could be a typo. I used a new wire harness so did not have to worry about size. Harold
Harold, thank you for providing that link. I tried to find one I could print out a little while back without success. I just printed it and will put it with my other manuals for future reference. I'm currently "modernizing" a 1966 Olsonette Step Van, B?U lamps, interior lighting etc. were not considered necessary back in the day! John
