Ok, so I went to put some gas in tonight and every $1 or so worth of gas that went in was making the pump click off. I looked inside and the gas is going in really slowly and air bubbles are going by making fuel spill out when I remove the nossle.

It took a really long time and I gave up at around $9

Is that going to be the filler neck or like a vent or something that's clogged?

My fuel system is original.

It could have been the pump nozzle. The other day when filling my wife's Escape, I needed to throttle back on the lever, as it wouldn't even latch on the lowest flow rate with out kicking off.

Terrence: it would be easy enough to try filling your tank at another gas pump, as klhansen suggests, but your description implies another problem. You stated:

“I looked inside and the gas is going in really slowly and air bubbles are going by making fuel spill out when I remove the nossle.”

The problem could be your aspirator line is restricted (collapsed/internally, crushed) preventing air in the tank from exiting as the liquid fuel is entering. The aspirator line is the small pipe/hose running back up along side the filler neck. Or it could even be a restriction in the filler neck itself(unlikely). Hope this helps.
Good luck, Dave

Every Ferd Crown Vic Police Car I drove during our Departments Ferd era had exactly the same problem. All caused by a restriction in the vent (aspirator) line. Drove our mechanics nuts until they figured out the problem.

happened at 3 pumps, and I use those pumps often seeing as that gas station is only 2 blocks away.
going to look a little closer today now that the suns out.

when I looked this morning fuel was still stuck up at the neck where it flattens out before going to the tank itself, I poked it with some bailing wire and air escaped past it and it went down.
upon further inspection I realize that where the aspirator line should be is a bolt threaded into the nipple.
that may be some of my filling issue,
