I'm working on my 54 3600. Still 6V, stock. It has the Signal Stat 800 switch thats probably been there from the beginning or close to it. So after my last post regarding LED lamp issues Previous Thread I switched back to incandescent and sure enough everything seemed to function as it normally would. Or so I thought at first. I had the kid sit in the cab and pump the brakes so I could see stop lamps, run the signal lever, try the headlamp switch and blinkers together, etc. What I noticed is that when the headlight switch is in either position, and the brake or signal lights acivate, there was definitely a change, i.e. blinkers and stop lamps activating, but it was very very minimal.
Upon further inspection, it seems that the major filament in the bulbs is being used in as the park/tail/headlight switch position and the minor filament is being used as the brake/signal. Pretty sure that's 180 out from what it should be.
My question is whether any of you electrically savvy guys think this could be as simple as the PO wiring the headlamp switch incorrectly? It's consistent in both tail lamps and park lamps. Also the park lamp sockets, and tail lamp pigtails are all new and I soldered the splices. The lights are all nice and bright, and responsive to the stoplamp and signal switch so I don't have any doubt about the grounds at this point.
I will eventually get the truck completely rewired. As of now I only replaced the runs from the tail lamps and park lamps that had not been. There were some new wires when I bought the truck and a whole lot of original crumbly ones. I just need to get the brake and signal lights working correctly so I can get the truck over to the DMV and get it in my name. It runs, drives and stops fine. Once that's done I can rewire the whole thing so there's no question. I'm also wondering now if this might be part of the issue with why the LED's would not function correctly.

Thanks for any ideas.

The “minor” filament is the normal tail light circuit. Switch the wires.
