Anyone Interested in the 727/D300 Fix?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had just about had it with the front d-shaft clearance problem on my truck. I crawled under it yesterday and decided I wasn't comming out without a solution. Well, I got it. I had to clock the d300 down 27*. When you do this it puts the shift rods in a really cramped spot, not allowing for cables. The bracket that holds the shift lever to the shift rods was reworked by cutting the rounded part off and welding a flat piece of metal on it to tie it back together, just allowing room for the rods. After a little grinding to get the corner of the bracket rounded , I can now get 2H AND 4h. By smoking the shift lever with the flame wrench, we multi-bent it to run throught the floorboard and it actually shifts. The d-shaft clears the tranny pan, and I am now stoked.! grin grin . Thats one way to get clearance anyway if any of it will help anyone else.

Yes thats true Rusty Rod, but it seems all types of power plants end up in old gmc's and chevys. Like the Hemi posted in this forum and even suspensions like the Mustang IFS. Some low riders, some 4x4's. Just trying to advance a solution that otherwise might keep someone from trying a real nice setup for old p/u's. Not trying to anger the Chevy purists AGAIN!!. LOL Thanks for lookin'. Jim
