I cant seem to find a good reference picture and the engine was torn down when I received it. Holes 1 and 2 appears to go into the engine. Hole #3 appears to be a blind hole. It is a 1954 235. Holes 2 and 3 are attachment points for different types of throttle linkage bell cranks.

Yes, the hole near the oil pan rail is for the return line from the bottom fitting of the oil filter.
