Hey Bolters!

I have some (okay, a fair bit) of repair to do around the top of the windshield (where the gasket would sit, and the front edge of the roof). Should I do a repo roof, and cut out the section I need? Get it done by a body shop? Try and make a panel? I'm looking to get the truck back on the road, and eventually it will get all the holes filled, and fresh paint.

I took the windshield out in order to repair the roof support behind the windshield, but had a bit more of a surprise than I expected.

Start with trying to bend your own patch. On the straight parts of the windshield, it's not hard. Just cut out only what you need to cut out.

Doesn't look that bad. Of course you may find worse when you start cutting. I'd try a DIY patch.

Thanks for the help.
There are a few pinholes near the point of the roof. So I think klhansen you are right I will likely run into some more, but I'll try the diy patch.

Started at the repair last night. I don't think it will be too bad. Mouse pee really is the worst...

I think you can buy the interior part. I would consider doing that since it's now in two pieces. It would be easier to keep things aligned that way.

Agreed. I already have the inner part. It was basically in two pieces before I started hacking away at it. Drivers side seems solid, so I will patch from there over. Then hopefully I can use the patch, and the remnants of the windshield "seat" to rebuild the rest of it. At least, that's the plan. The original plan, was "just" to take the windows out so I could replace the inner panel, and reattach the divider in the middle of the windows...

LOL, Seems like "the original plan" always turns into "Plan B".
