I just spoke to my chevy guru friend, he said if I need to mod the steering components it's nothing a grinder and a torch can't fix..considering all of the things he has built for the drag strip...I trust him, my bolt will never be going 120+mph..

Hey CoolethanEthan, or mike1951, after you do this swap, let us know the in's & out's with the steering and things. I think I'm going to contact the axle guy also. Thanks for the pics of that axle. Looks nice.

I need to swap my rear for a 3.55 to 1 before any long distance driving happens... 50 mph is fun... really... luckily my work is about 2 miles from my house...

Ethan is almost done with his swap...
however the drag link seems to be giving him some problems... he mounted the tie rod on top of the leaf springs and the drag link is having clearance issues with the tie rod...
I have heard that you need to heat the spindles and adjust them so the tie rod fits back under the leaf springs...
is this the case? If so does anyone have photos?

Normally with a dropped axle you'd install the tierods upside down so they mount into the bottom of the steering arms.

Those axles look real nice. I have seen dropped axles that looked like a friggin piece of taffy stretched. That one looks great. I may just get one from him as well.

sid's axles are professionally done...
the biggest issue I had was the steering geometry..
not sid's fault...
I am getting 3.5 inches removed from the pitman arm and all my problems will go away

I got the seat upholstered...
and you can see the stance... the wheel tucks nice... It's got a set of jack stands under the axle..

Is that dropped axle AND dropped springs? Looks like more than I'm after for mine, but I'm considering one or the other...
