Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 83 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 83 | I have a '41, AK with a 228 and a 4 speed. Just replaced clutch and throwout bearing and there is a ratcheting sound from transmission area when I slow down. I can only hear it at low speeds i.e...rolling to stop sign. Doesn't matter if clutch in in or not. I have heard a lot of different driveline noises but not this one. Any ideas? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 | A loose or worn U-joints will make that sound.

If there is a carrier bearing? Make sure you didnt install the retainer backwards. It really looks like it wouldnt matter, but it does. Trust me, i learned the long way.. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 83 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2019 Posts: 83 | After clutch, TO bearing , u joints all replaced. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 | Id get it on jackstands and try to duplicate the noise. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 | Another thing. Look at stupid crap. Like speedo cable routing, etc. Make sure nuttin is near the driveshaft. Loose ubolts on ujoints will make all kind of racket also. Keep us posted. U got me curious 🤔 | | |
