I am rebuilding a 1957 3100 rear axle. I sourced the bearings and seals from NAPA. The rear seal they gave me is much thinner than the original seal I removed. The original seal looks like it had a seal and then a leather/rope seal together in the seal body, whereas the new one just has a rubber seal and no leather/rope section. Are the old style seals no longer made and is the single seal correct? Thanks

That's the modern seal. No rawhide in C/R seals!
