63 GMC 2500 series, 305e, 4 speed with trans brake. The problem is the brake release handle rattles at cruise speeds more often than enough. And is driving me crazy!!! Its actually in the handle and will go away if i squeeze it even know its not applied. So i figured it has to be the rod that goes through the handle to the release paw. Heres what i did so far. Now mind you this has been a thing for a few months now and im tired of "rigging" it , if you know what I mean. Ive put a bigger washer and o-ring on the handle at the pivot point where it attaches to the trans to tighten it up. Ive tightened up the shoe adjustment, to the point it got atad toasty. Ive loosened it up to the point that it dont hold till about the last click. Ive put a carb like spring from the rod and clipped it to the transmission at the bottom of the handle where the rod is accessible. Let me also say that every time I do something, the problem changes, but never goes away. I would really like to fix this issue the right way, but not having any luck. Any ideas? Thanks

Hy glenns towing, what about some felt washers that need to be compressed a bit to install at the handle and at the transmission end, something like the material that used to be put on battery terminals, hope that helps.

Thats what i kinda did with the bigger washer and an o-ring. Maybe the felts might work better. Thanks

And to tell ya the truth, the handle itself seems to be firmly in place. Is there some way to tighten up the release rod. By the way, driving today it was actually quiet. Tomorrow im sure it be different.

Don't laugh, but it just popped in my head. Strap a bunge cord to it.
