If anyone is considering an LS swap donor vehicles can be had for cheap right now. The yards are full of scrap that brings nothing on the market so they are not buying which means individuals can make killer deals. We bought a 2004 3/4T pickup, a 2004 Suburban, a 2002 Tahoe 4wd, and a 2008? Z71 Tahoe 4wd, all for $500 each. All run and drive and and have LS engines. Buying a whole running vehicle helps keep problems minimized when doing a swap. We could use another half dozen but getting rid of a dead carcass is a problem. The nearest yard that will take one for FREE is 50 miles away and we have to haul it to him.

Hmmm. Scrap is low here in Pennsylvania, but giving it up for free is odd to say the least. Unless titles are the issue?

I thought they just buried junk vehicles nose-first in Texas and left half of 'em sticking out of the ground!

My '02 Silverado 2500 is very rusted and I'm considering on removing the 6.0 this coming spring and transplanting it into my Red '59 Apache. With the '02 already being rusted I thought I'd get at least one more winter out of it. My biggest concern is I whether I can use the automatic tranny as well. The Silverado has 4 wheel drive and the Apache does not. Haven't yet researched if the tranny can be modified for rear wheel drive only.
