1952 Chevy 3100 - trumpet style horn repair

Hey everyone,

I just had a quick question about the trumpet horn on these trucks (well, TWO questions).

Do they disassemble for cleaning and repair? Mine is quite rusty looking, and try as I might with a battery charger, I couldn't get it to honk.

Also, what type of noise do these horns make? I searched and searched Youtube, but couldn't find ANY videos of the sound! My kids think it will sound like an old time "Ahh Ooogah" horn, and actually I'm kind of hoping it does too. smile

Yes they come apart ,the round cap will have a screw in the middle or a push down and turn to open . Do you have both long and short? it will sound like a train horn . Easy to fix if contact is stuck looks like a set of points and they do stick . I have tapped a few with a rubber mallet and they start working. Have fun they are easy .

Sadly I only have the short one. Great to hear about the easy fix! Thanks for the help!
