While power washing my truck I uncovered one green rim (they all four looked like the rusty one beforehand). The truck is all black so in an effort to add a pop of color I'm going to paint and distress that green on the other three rims.
I'm shooting for a green to match the rims, which is almost John Deere Green, and trying to find the best way to paint the other three green, and distress them. I'll re-paint all four of them a color close to the one rim, if I need to, I just don't know where to start after they're sanded down. How have you distressed rim paint?

Maybe paint them then have them lightly sandblasted from about 6 feet away after the paint cures? I'm sure there are guys here who have done faux patina and will have other suggestions. Some I've seen some faux patina jobs that look like crap, to put it mildly.
Let us know how they turn out and how you did it.

@ klhansen - That's a good idea. Thank you! Yeah, some of them look really nice from a distance...

Maria, I know we all love your truck! So nice how you keep it un-restored and original. I love your idea on the rims. While I don’t generally love fake patina, I feel for the purpose of matching up to the look of the rest of the truck, this is a good plan. I experiment with various paints and finishes, by applying and Removing when partly dried etc. mostly on wood projects to blend in repairs. Try experimenting on a test rim. Maybe leave most of the rust, spray or brush on green, and spray it with solvent before its completely dry, rub with a cloth. Or something in that vein. I think you can come really close to that look. Cheap and easy! What they sell for John Deere Green now might be a little too garish . Good luck, and be sure and keep that corn cob chucker on there!
