Rebuilding brakes top to bottom, 1960 Apache C20. Seems that all the available spring kits are for 1/2 ton C10's. So, if anyone knows where I can get a Spring kit or all the pieces for a 3/4 ton.. please let me know. I just got off the phone with Classicparts because their catalog listed spring kits but did not designate 1/2 or 3/4 ton.. so it should be for both.. wrong. When I went on line their system showed 1/2 ton, crappers.
finding parts for the 3/4 ton seems to be a universal problem in this restoration. Anyone with a good source for C20 parts, please pass it along....... ie steering parts

Hy 60ApacheC20 I found some numbers at Napa, return springs are the same for the front and rear axle, the part numbers are for one axle, Napa p/n UP80304 $5.49 per axle. I could only cross the hold down kit for the rear axle, Napa p/n UP80409 $6.49, this is also a kit for the whole axle. Hope that helps.

Thanks, but the UP80304 will not work on the C20. I went to the Napa site and "Does not fit your 1960 Chevrolet C20 3/4 Ton - Pickup
Change vehicle" comes up when you specify the C20. I find this in the catalogs all the time when it does not specify usage for 3/4 ton parts.
Same on the second part.....
But, I will call Napa and use those as a reference for what I need and maybe they will have something. thanks again.... now to check Kanter

General comment not aimed at anyone.
Catalogs and online parts suppliers, various computer "systems" and counter persons do not have correct info sometimes. Especially on old trucks and the differences between 1/2T and 3/4T if there is any difference. Many times parts are the same. Part numbers don't mean anything sometimes. I have seen this many times. You can not trust a computer "does not fit" message on this particular part. GM tries to use same parts to save money. The same return spring could be used on 1/2 and 3/4 even though the shoes are a little bigger on 3/4T. The arm chair or looking at a computer approach is NOT suitable for many parts. Take the old part to Napa and compare. If that does not work, there are many spring kits/universal brake spring/hardware kits with lots of brake springs. Buy the kits LOCALLY and take them home and try them. If none works, take them back. If that does not work, measure the hook to hook of the spring and the diameter. Use those dimensions to buy donor parts on Ebay. The sellers don't know what they have either, but the dimensions will help you decide. When we run into these things, we must do some work and leave the arm chair. Sometimes we may need to buy a whole brake backing plate with all hardware to get what we need from Ebay or craigslist.

To Poster
1960, being the first year for the new designed truck, probably are different than later 64-66 brakes. Put a wanted ad here on Stovebolt and you will get action. Moderators don't like you to ask for parts on non classified forums. The 60-63 parts can be the most hardest parts to find. It's going to be something like Raybestos H131.

Good points. I have created some of my own problems in locating parts. Being old and married with a few health problems I do not shop in the stores except on rare occasions. I have neighbors and friends of friends out here who have had covid. Going into stores and hanging out at the counter are not in my game book right now. I am in /'near the hot zone in NE Oregon. I want to finish this truck and enjoy it. So, with a little patience and help from the forum it will come together.
Many people out here are working at a distance and helping out. Lot of other Veterans who have seen to many friends pass on and understand. Dropped off my frame and other parts for sand blasting today. Parked my trailer and the guy off loaded it. He will take it to the powder coat shop next week. Had another shop tear down the front end. Another shop is doing the rear end. All were happy to work out in the parking areas. Lot's of good folks out there in the car biz.
Be Safe, live long, tolerate the crazy old vets.... thanks to all
